Sunday, September 12, 2021, 9:50 a.m. – approx. 4:40 p.m.
We are on the way east of the Weissenstein (SO) in the area of the Balmfluechchöpflis, which is characterized by fern-rich fir-beech forests. The number of fern reports from this area is still small – a wonderful opportunity to go on a treasure hunt.
Meeting point: 9.50 a.m., Oberdorf (SO), valley station of the cable car to the Weissenstein.
Public transport: Solothurn from 9.32 a.m., Oberdorf at 9.46 a.m. with the cable car to the middle station (Nesselboden) Return journey either from Weissenstein via Oberdorf to Solothurn or from Balmfluechöpfli to Balmberg (Oberbalmberg, Kurhaus from 2.42 p.m. / 3.42 p.m. / 4.42 p.m. to Solothurn)
Duration: approx. 5-6 hours
Route: Nesselboden, Schattenberg, Balmfluechöpfli – on to Weissenstein or to Balmberg. Ascent from Nesselboden to Balmfluechöpfli: 3 km, 300 m ascent, hiking time 1 h 15 min
Equipment: Weatherproof clothing, good shoes, lunch picnic, something to drink
Special: The region is botanically very exciting (not only in terms of ferns); from the Balmfluechöpfli, for example, the very rare hyssop-leaved limb herb (Sideritis hyssopifolia) is known, which blooms from July to September.
