We visit a relatively small, fern-rich forest near Päffikon that is exposed to the north: the Hüllerich (SZ). Friends of ferns visited the area in 1982 and published an impressive list of species (Fern leaves February 09, 1983), which includes Dryopteris remota. We are curious to see which species we will find again 39 years later.
Meeting point: 9.45 a.m., on the northeastern edge of the Hüllerich, at the junction from the Talstrasse to the Hüllerich, coordinates 702963 227770.
Public transport: Pfäffikon SZ train station from 9.16 a.m. (bus towards Schindellegi-Feusisberg), Pfäffikon SZ, Buchberg at 9.19 a.m.; Approx. 25 minutes on foot through the Buechwald to the meeting point.
Return journey: Buchberg from 3:03 p.m. / 4:03 p.m. to Pfäffikon
Duration: approx. 5-6 hours
Equipment: Weatherproof clothing, good shoes, lunch picnic, something to drink
